So after a nice long 4 1/2 day weekend up north, I must say, it sucks to be back at work. We had a great time though. Ate a ton of great food...had a couple of bonfires...hit the much transformed but still great Ox Tavern...fished a little...golfed 9 holes...drank beer/cocktails....went for a bike ride...Pawned Ava off on family members...etc. Nothing beats a weekend up north. And luckily my neighbors only had the guts to talk about but not implement their plan on mowing a falic symbol into my 'well past needing to be mowed' lawn.
In having 6 hours of total drive time, I saw plenty of cars. So in spirit of having a topic, today's is easy and I'm sure will be extra controversial (or not). But here is my pick for the top 3 ugliest new cars:
1. Dodge Caliber - Their slogan of "Anything but cute" is right on. It's not cute. It's not hot. It's not cool. It's not mean looking. It's just plain ugly. It's like they took the AMC Eagle, made it boxy, and put a Dodge logo on it. I'm not sure if the people who have bought these (mostly guys i've seen driving them) think they look 'aggressive' or 'tough' or what. But guess what. They don't! I could totally see Justin driving one.
2. Chevy HHR - Basically a clone of the Chrysler PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser, when it first came out, I admit I thought was kind of snazzy. Had that cool zooty look that fit in with the (at that point) overused Swing Dance craze that went through. Would look real tight to drive it around in a zoot suit. But...The HHR and the PT Cruiser both just look rediculous now. Not sure who they are trying to sell to with this one, and they are trying to sell it as a power packed man car. But really, it's just a minivan. Deal with it. Ugly. Jim would drive one of these.
3. Dodge Magnum - You can usually count on Dodge for ugly cars. So for 2 of my 3, Dodge gets the nod. What IS the magnum? First of all, explain the concept of a station wagon? Why not just get a minivan? Both concepts I wouldn't be caught driving, but I'd pick a minivan over a wagon. More cargo room. So they take the station wagon, make it look sleeker and low profile-ish. Make the grill look like the new charger. Result = still a station wagon. Buyers = clueless men or mom's that think they are cool. I could see Jim driving one though.
Ok, I'm going back to staring at my screen. And constantly hitting refresh until comments show up.

Justin, what's the deal? It's been like 2 hours and no comments yet. You must have the day off, because I know you don't have any work to do.
I totally agree with you on the ugliest cars on the road, however, if I had to choose between the three i would totally go for the Dodge magnum.
Not the stock SE model though, thats only got the 2.7l 190 horses. If you wanted the get the fasted grocery getter out there you would WANT to pick up the Magnum SRT8 model which has the big 6.1l engine and 425 horses, deffinatly the way to go for a station wagon but youd be spending around $39,000 for that model
Then youd have the weak Dodge caliber that starts around 14,000 with only 148 hp, and a 1.8 l engine that comes stock in some hondas, not a bad engine getting about 30 mpg. but a pretty butt ugly car. you can get an all wheel drive model with 172 hp.
then the HHR which is probobly the stupidest and most ugly car thats on the road right now starts at 17,000 with a 2.2 l engine and only 149 hp. these motors youll find in most toyotas.
I can garentee I could find a much uglier car for far less than 17,000. Try 500 for a 87 crown vic with a custom HOLE in the roof for a sun roof.
And try not to forget about the new Honda ELEMENT. and the Scion xb or whatever the heck it is, they both look like oversized refrigerator boxes or somthing.
Dave, thanks for the specs! I didn't realize you could get a Magnum with 425 horses. Although, I don't live on a farm or a horse ranch, so not sure where I would keep all of those.
That Crown Vic sounds sweet! Where can I find one?
And yes, the Element and anything Scion are probably worse than my 3 choices. Goes to show how much thought I put into it before picking my 3.
Did you find the frisbee golf course? Was it any good? Do they have beer cart girls for frisbee golf?
yah i found it. it was alright, 18 holes, i lost a disc in the lake. and no, no beer chicks, but they might be hiring if you need a part time job!
If the pay is free beer, I might consider it.
HHR? Never. That thing is hideous. The Magnum if it was juiced up, sure. It is not the ugliest car out there. It is not attractive, but hey, butt load of power. I would take one if it was given to me.
Wow that is a lot of information about cars. Who know there was so much that went into cars. (Steve the horses thing, was pretty lame-o). As for my opinion, the Honda Element is by far the ugliest car on the road and close behind it would be the Volvo c30 (I went on-line to find some ugly cars).
The volvo is pretty boxy (get it?)
Steve, you forgot to tell everyone how I beat you in mini-golf and golf with the same golf ball.
Good times
Well, I had to golf in your giant shiny silver hip-hop tennis shoes that were 2 sizes too big with no socks...and my driver broke before the first hole...so I blame the golf loss on that. Mini-golf...yeah...you won. Ok, so you whooped me at both. But next time I am going to actually try or something.
And my horses joke WAS lame...as it was meant to be. I'm not scared.
Hey steve, whats up? Just wondering if you still needed help with that stuff or not. I havnt had a phone for a while so I dont know if anyone has tried calling or not but Thats back in service now. anyway, let me know. see ya
I'll talk to ya this weekend about it whenver we get together with Dad. Hopefully I'll know more by then.
